BONHATA Hosts Tourism Sector Dialogue with Bonaire’s Executive Council 

Kralendijk – The Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association (BONHATA) recently hosted a dialogue with Commissioners Anjelica Cicilia, Clark Abraham, and Nina den Heyer of the Executive Council of Bonaire. The meeting, held at Captain Don’s Habitat, focused on the immediate challenges and sustainable growth opportunities for Bonaire’s tourism sector. 

Key topics of discussion included the ratio of airlift to total room inventory, spatial development plans, local workforce development, the cost of doing business, and the implementation of Bonaire’s Strategic Tourism Master Plan.  

The dialogue underscored the critical need for targeted investments to bolster the island’s tourism infrastructure and offerings, a move vital for its competitive edge and sustainable future. It also brought to light the sector’s need for clear guidance and collaboration from Bonaire’s government to drive social, economic, and environmental benefits for the island and its inhabitants. 

The active participation of BONHATA members and the insights shared by Commissioners Cicilia, Abraham, and den Heyer facilitated an open exchange of ideas aimed at fostering a shared vision for Bonaire’s tourism.
