About Us

The Bonaire Hotel and Tourism Association (BONHATA) is recognized by the National & Island Government and the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) as the official hotel and tourism association of Bonaire. Founded in 1980, BONHATA has been at the forefront of the island’s tourism industry for four decades.

BONHATA is member of the Business Federation Bonaire (BFB). The BFB is a so-called umbrella organization in which various employers’ associations are united to jointly represent the interests of employers in the Central Dialogue. BFB also wants to facilitate the dialogue between the affiliated organizations with the aim of contributing to the strengthening of a thriving and innovative business community, as a source of sustainable prosperity, and ultimately also to a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable Bonaire.

BONHATA is via the Business Federation Bonaire (BFB) an active member of the Central Dialogue. The Central Dialogue (CD) is a local consultative body of employers, trade unions, the local government and the Chamber of Commerce under the chairmanship of the Island Governor. This with the aim of contributing by consensus to a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable Bonaire.

• Advocacy on behalf of the private sector for the tourism industry of Bonaire (protecting and promoting the collective interests of its members, working closely with government agencies such as TCB, OLB and other organizations to represent the industry’s interests, and significant input into TCB’s marketing strategies that will benefit our members)
• Data & Business Information (offering information that can assist you with planning marketing activities, inventory, staffing, and scheduling)
• Networking opportunities (offering opportunities in networking events, interacting, and connecting with each other, giving opportunities to expand your professional and social network)
• Education (organizing and sponsors various workshops, trainings, and seminars)
• Committees/Task forces (offering possibilities to actively participate in one of our committees/task forces and to be a part of joint projects, finding solutions to common problems, be better informed and to make a difference)
• Voting Rights – All members of BONHATA are eligible to serve in BONHATA’s board of directors by registering for the bi-annual election
• Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (eligibility for CHTA membership and/or board position)
